In April 2024, DME Aerosol LLC took part in the FORUM “Cosmetic Industry Attention Points”

In April 2024, DME Aerosol LLC, represented by Maxim Alexandrovich Unagaev, Deputy Commercial Director, took part in the forum “Cosmetic Industry Attention Points”, arranged by the Russian Perfumery and Cosmetics Association, with a report: “Research of the properties of hair sprays based on dimethyl ether and hydrocarbon propellant.”

The report is based on the study of the effects of sprays with DME and HCP on the scalp and hair structure and, in general, on the overall appearance of the hairstyle. The results of clinical evaluation showed that averagely the use of dimethyl ether-based spray:
– reduces hair dryness by 5% compared to HCP-based sprays,
– reduces scalp dryness by 2% compared to HCP-based sprays.
– Hair is combed 12% easier than with use of HCP-based sprays,
– The overall feeling of hair stickness is 20% lower than with use of HCP-based sprays.

Among the other things, the participants of the experimental group reported that HCP-based spray was unevenly distributed over the hairdo, so its final appearance did not always meet expectations. It was also noted that DME-based products are more convenient to use for hair modeling, as they allow to make the desired shape easily and quickly. In addition, the participants of focus group confirmed that the curls treated with dimethyl ether-based spray were easier to comb at the end of the day than after styling with hydrocarbon propellant-based products.
The peculiarity of DME-based spray is that it is sprayed with extremely small particles. This allows it to evenly cover the hair along the entire length. And when it is no longer necessary to fix the hairdo, it is quite simple to remove such a spray: it is not even necessary to wash the hair – it is enough to comb it.
When analyzing the results of the experiment, it turned out that a half of the participants was dissatisfied with the smell of perfumery fragrance of HCP-based sprays. In their opinion, dimethyl ether-based sprays do not have an unpleasant smell. The experience of all the volunteers proved: DME-based spray does not make havier or stick the hair.
The topic of the presentation quickened interest from more than 200 specialists of the perfume sector who attended the event. The results of the speech were summed up in a question-and-answer format.
